6 ways to style our Lola 'n' Leather bustier corset top - Mariesa Mae Lingerie

In the world of any lingerie affectionado, lingerie 'trends' don't really matter so much. Ours is a world of fantasy where our lingerie styles reflect our mood. Whimsical and dreamy or bondage vixen, what we wear underneath can give us a secret confidence boost to encapsulate that mood and bring that flavour into our daily lives.  But sometimes it is nice to be able to show off our secret underworld to the outside world, and when mainstream trends and lingerie align, who wouldn't jump on the opportunity to bare your coveted pieces and wear them for all to see?

Corsets and Basques have been slowly making a comeback for a while now. Some attribute this trend to Bridgerton a Netflix series set in Regency-era London, but  Billie Eilish’s British Vogue June 2021 cover shoot, styled by Dena Giannini and photographed by Craig McDean, has sealed the corset's emergence as a must have item for the foreseeable future.

We know that a corset or a bustier is always a stylish addition to any girls wardrobe. To give you some inspiration of how you can get more out of your bustier's or corset tops, I've styled 6 different looks with our Lola 'n' Leather bustier top. Taking you from a classic everyday look to a fun festival outfit, these 6 combinations have your set for being the best dressed for every occasion.

Watch our video compilation below and see which look is your favourite?

Our Lola 'n' Leather bustier corset top is made out of silk with Leather panels. It has detachable straps which means that it can also be worn strapless giving you added variations to your styling combinations.  Worn as a set with our matching Lola 'n' Leather High-waisted corset back spanking knickers, this makes for an alluring and provocative lingerie look. Inspired by 1940's shapewear styling, this set is forgiving to those of us that are more body conscious and feel more comfortable with more coverage and form enhancing curves.

Look #1 -  Sheer Trends

Always a favourite to any lingerie lover as there is no better way for us to show off our gorgeous lingerie pieces. Although provocative and certainly for the more daring, this combination gives a look of sophistication and glamour.

Look #2 - Festival Fun

Styling our Tulle Gypsy Skirt (which will be arriving in store soon) over cycling shorts makes wearing sheer trends a little bit more accessible for those of us who like to cover our modesty. We layered the corset top over a rock t to create a festival outfit that will give you 'I'm with the band' appeal!

Look #3 - Lady Like with a twist

Channeling Donna Summer circa 1979 Bad girls album cover look in this ensemble, a ladylike silhouette is created with this Leather maxi skirt styled with the Lola 'n' Leather bustier worn strapless.

Look #4 - Smart casual

Mastering that smart / casual in-between look of can be quite tricky sometimes, but layering your corset or bustier top over a turtleneck top is a perfect way to get more wear out it. Feeling less exposed you can be more confident wearing your bustier for more everyday occasions.

Look #5 - Monochrome girl about town

Layering a bustier over an oversized crisp white shirt is a look that has been circulating for a while now. I decided to give it a vintage feel with a nod to Mary Quant and the Chelsea girls of the late 1960's by teaming it with knee high boots and a baker boy hat for a fun 'girl about town' outfit.

Look #6 - Classic 90's

And finally the most easy to wear ensemble of them all, a corset top or bustier worn with jeans is always going to be a winner. This season's 90's obsession is in keeping with our 90's aesthetic that we LOVE at Mariesa Mae. These oversized slouchy jeans and a classic blazer bring this look bang on trend.
